Our intention is to show the public the often overlooked injustices of the Native American people by bringing attention to unknown historical facts which took place in the mission hill area. This will be done by hanging a series of five faux historical signs, alike to those in front of buildings/on relevant grounds with historical meaning, under or near street signs in Mission Hill. Each sign will contain a satirical/unknown historical fact relating directly or indirectly to the street name. The signs will be hung on the streets we feel have the most attention grabbing facts or the most pedestrian traffic. These are meant to make the general public (pedestrians, walkers, students) aware of the historical relevance of Mission Hill that is usually not widely known or taught about, ie. the Native history. A trail of footprints will be power washed through a stencil, leading up to the signs to not only visually direct pedestrians towards the signs, but also to depict a visual metaphor through the spiritual presence in the present and past of the Indigenous people.
